Provided funding and expertise to drive innovation across the food and drink manufacturing sector in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
In its first three years the Food and Drink iNet supported more than 80 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with grants for innovation projects and delivered over 1,000 instances of one-to-one tailored business advice and guidance. Part-funded by the ERDF, the Food and Drink iNet was managed by a consortium, led by The Food and Drink Forum.

The project enabled eligible food and drink manufacturers in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and the Southeast Midlands to access up to 25% in grant funding to support the purchase of production equipment, access 12 hours of fully-funded food technical or business mentoring support, and invites to attend fully-funded workshops on several key industry topics.

The project supported over 250 businesses, providing intensive support to 220 businesses and grants to over 100, leveraging almost £2.5m of private sector investment. The project offered a range of useful services to food and drink manufacturers including grant funding, business mentoring, industry events and technical support.

Leicester City and Leicestershire County Council
Collaborate offered small and medium-sized businesses in the Leicester and Leicestershire region support with food technical issues, to enable businesses to stay compliant, from the start-up stage through to supporting their plans for growth and scale-up. The project consisted of a range of 1:1 support and workshops, with additional support accessing Finance from the project funder.

SKILLS SUPPORT FOR THE WORKFORCE

In partnership with LearnDirect, The Food and Drink offered a 6-month programme of training and development to food and drink manufacturers across the D2N2 LEP area This programme of support covered all aspects of technical food production i.e... Shelf-life testing, food labelling and HACCP to business support topics around Sales and marketing, accessing new marketings and costings.
To compliment the support workshops, a series of accredited training was also offered, where we saw 100% of learners passing Food Safety and HACCP at levels 2 and 3
In partnership with the School of Artisan food we offered a range of practical workshops, which was beneficial in enabling producers to work cross-sectorial and develop vital skills from these other sectors. The topics covered were chocolate making, sourdough bread making, sausage production and cheese and butter.
12 Courses delivered, 95% Attendance, two conferences. Preparing to Meet the Buyer & Flying of the Shelves.

The 'How To Win Food & Drink Tenders' programme provided businesses with a range of support across areas that not only improved their chances of winning tenders but also allowed us to build up producer confidence to improve your existing business strategies to enable successful management of their supply chain.

A Peer Network Project providing support and guidance to food and drink manufacturers in the Great Birmingham and Solihull area, who wished to tender for supplying products to the Commonwealth Games in 2021
20 Businesses involved in Peer Network style workshops followed by 1:1 support.
This 3-month project supported 15 businesses across the area. Following the completion of the programme, all 15 businesses were in a better and stronger position to look more closely at tendering to supply their products. With the confidence that the businesses would have the right mindset and processes in place to score highly and increase their customer base.

A Working on behalf of Nottingham City Council as part of the reopening the high street safely programme, FDF delivered a FREE service designed to help businesses recover from the impacts of COVID-19 and reopen their premises safely.
Our team of food technical experts provides free support to high street businesses to help them operate safely during an uncertain climate, provides the opportunity to improve areas of food safety, understand the latest government guidance and maintain basic health and safety ensuring that the business continues to thrive safely.
