Food and Drink Forum - Products and Services
New venture gets support
The Food & Drink Forum can offer all sorts of support and training for firms – whatever stage of development they’re at.
During 2007, we provided a four-day bespoke training package for Doddington Hall, Lincoln, ahead of the launch of its new farmshop and café, which opened in July 2007.
The Forum also helped Doddington Hall access an Integration Skills Grant to enable development of its catering facilities.
Doddington Hall owner Claire Birch said: “The Food & Drink Forum has been helpful with strategic funding, and great for helping us identify and meet our training needs. Highly-trained staff are vital for a successful farmshop, café and kitchen.”
The developments at Doddington Hall included restoration of the walled kitchen gardens, where fruit and vegetables are being grown for use in the kitchens and for selling in the farmshop. The shop also sells local meats and cheeses.
Baking their own products and having extremely knowledgeable and well-trained staff were two of the areas that Doddington Hall hopes will differentiate its offering from that provided by supermarkets.
Around 20 staff received training from The Forum in a variety of areas, including food hygiene and health and safety.
The Integration Skills Grant given to Doddington Hall has enabled the Hall to develop and enhance the catering services it offers as a wedding venue.
